However, there are robust interventions, treatments, and supports that can help with these things, and can improve the entire family’s quality of life. This session will provide an overview of the role of DMD in these challenges, the most common problems that tend to occur, and what is available to make life better. Today saw the publication ofa first work package reportto consider the key challenges for regulating and evaluating mental health technologies (DMHTs) with input from patients, the public and mental health professionals.The key findings of this work have included the development of a conceptual framework for categorising DMHTs, considerations for regulation and evaluation informed by literature and stakeholder insights and clearer proposals for how DMHTs qualify as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD).

What are your thoughts on the Research Domain Criteria (#RDoC) initiative? Former NIMH director Dr. Thomas Insel created RDoC to address limitations in diagnostic algorithms such as the DSM. However, many of the same limitations identified by Dr. Insel might be applicable to other complex diseases. Do you think RDoC has been beneficial for mental health research and advancing clinical practice? Or, are there reasons to believe that RDoC may be more effective in addressing mental health concerns than other complex diseases?
