Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage and recap of AEW Rampage on September 15.

This week's show featured action across multiple divisions, but one match in particular is going to have a lot of people talking.

The main focus this week was tag team wrestling. We saw The Acclaimed in action, The Kindom faced Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal, and a huge eight-man tag team match saw the Hardys team with The Lucha Bros to take on Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, The Buther and The Blade.

However, the bout that will have the most eyes on it was the TBS Championship match between Jade Cargill and Kris Statlander. The former leader of The Baddies has had a lot of people talking about her future this week, but we still don't know exactly what is going to happen in the coming weeks.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Friday's show.

The Lucha Bros and Hardys vs. Butcher, Blade, Double J and Lethal

1 of 4

The bell rang for this eight-person tag match as soon as the show went on the air. Jarrett and Penta started things off for their team, with Double J taking control momentarily before Penta nailed him with a superkick.

The babyfaces were the first team to isolate an opponent for a series of tags and double-team moves, but surprisingly, it was The Butcher who was taking the beating.

It feels like this is said about every match in AEW with this many competitors, but it followed a familiar formula from start to finish. The way it was set up allowed all eight competitors to have some time in the ring, but a few people definitely had more time than others.

The match came to an end when Fenix hit a modified piledriver on The Butcher for the pin. Satnam Singh took out the Hardys after the match, but the Lucha Bros didn't seem to care.

The Righteous came out and looked down at the Hardy Boyz for a moment before the show went to a backstage interview with Britt Baker. The match we saw was fine, but it felt somewhat inconsequential and more like an excuse to get a bunch of people on TV at one time than anything else. The good guys got the win, but the didn't really gain anything.

Winners: The Hardys and Lucha Bros

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Fenix had some unique gear for this match. Jeff Hardy also had a cool look with his shirt and face paint.
    • The Charismatic Enigma looked a bit better here than he has in other recent performances. He probably had some ring rust to shake off.
    • Watching Fenix run across the top rope to kick someone in the face will never get old.
    • Baker announced that the winner of Statlander vs. Cargill will face her on Collision this weekend.

The Kingdom vs. Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal, The Acclaimed Squash Match

Sydal and Daniels were out first to take on Matt Taven and Mike Bennett of The Kingdom. Roderick Strong and Maria Kanellis weren't with them this time, but Roddy had a doctor's note.

This was a highly energetic and fast-paced tag match. Both teams looked great, but The Kingdom definitely had the edge due to their willingness to break the rules and their experience as tag team partners.

Even though the overall tag team division has suffered a bit over the past year or so, AEW still does tag team wrestling really well when it wants to. Throwing two teams out there that are capable of putting on a fantastic match is always going to be exciting for the crowd in the arena and the fans watching at home.

The first half of this match was wall-to-wall action, but after the commercial break, they started being more methodical and taking the time to sell bigger spots. The Kingdom for the win and then gave a promo about wanting to challenge for the ROH tag titles.

    Winners: The Kingdom

    Grade: B+

The Outrunners were back in action on AEW TV this week alongside Peter Avalon in a trios match against The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass.

This was little more than a squash match. It may have lasted longer than a minute or two, but this was completely designed to give Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn a decisive and quick victory.

The Dark Order came out to challenge the winners to a match for the Trios Championships.

    Winners: The Acclaimed

    Grade: Incomplete

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The QTV segment was pretty funny. Johnny TV is clearly having a great time with this character.
    • Do you want to feel old? Look up how old Sydal is.
    • Sydal does that jumping spin kick of his really well. He always looks like he makes solid contact but never hurts his opponents, which is hard with a move like that.
    • The way Bennet yelled "Oh Jesus!" as he was thrown over the top rope was hilarious.

Aussie Open Squash, Kris Statlander vs. Jade Cargill (TBS Championship)

3 of 4

Aussie Open picked up a win in less than a minute over two jobbers in a match that felt even more like filler than The Acclaimed trios bout we saw before it.

    Winners: Aussie Open

    Grade: Incomplete

The main event of this week's show was the TBS title bout between Statlander and the woman she beat for the title, Cargill.

The former champion had Mark Sterling by her side, but her Baddies were no longer there to support her. She and Statlander are two of the only women who can offer a physical challenge to each other, so they made sure to play up how evenly matched they are.

Considering Jade has been out of action for a little while, this ended up being one of the best matches she has had. It would have benefitted from having some more time, but they made the most of what they were given.

Cargill failed to hit Jaded but did manage to hit a chokeslam for a close two-count. After nailing her with a lariat, Statlander hit a scissor kick followed by her finisher for the win to retain her title.

Jade congratulated Statlander and hugged her before leaving the ring. This felt very much like a goodbye from her.

    Winner: Kris Statlander

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The camera got a close enough shot of the belt as the ref held it up to see Statlander's lipstick on the center from when she kissed it.
    • The sequence when they caught each other before Statlander hit a slam was good stuff.
    • A physically fit heel doing push-ups to taunt their opponent will always be a good way to get some quick heat.

The Final Word

4 of 4

This week's Rampage was bloated for sure, but that doesn't mean it didn't have a couple of things worth checking out.

The tag match with The Kingdom facing Sydal and Daniels was a lot of fun, but the main event was definitely the biggest attraction due to the possibility of Cargill leaving AEW soon.

The eight-man tag match was a bit on the chaotic side, as those bouts tend to be, but the other two matches we saw with The Acclaimed and Aussie Open picking up squash victories felt totally unnecessary.

If this was indeed Cargill's final match, she and Statlander would have benefitted from having a bit more time to tell a story. They had a great match anyway, but it could have been even better if one other bout was dropped.

Booking a one-hour show is difficult because three matches can feel like too few and four can sometimes feel like too many, but having five this week made the show feel more overstuffed than usual.

    Grade: C+
