During theSumner Tunnel closureJuly 5 August 5, trips on the East Boston ferry will be free. You can also ride the Lynnor Winthrop/Quincy ferries for $2.40, or use a Zone 1A pass, with the exception of single-ride tickets.

Year-Round Ferries

  • Charlestown Inner Harbor Ferryruns from Boston to Charlestown
  • Hingham/Hull Commuter Ferrytravels between Boston, Logan International Airport, Hingham, and Hull

Seasonal Ferries

There are three ferry routes that run seasonally in the spring and fall.

  • East Boston Ferry runs from Boston to East Boston
  • Lynn Ferry runs from Boston to Lynn
  • Winthrop/Quincy Ferry travels between Aquarium (Central Wharf - South), Logan International Airport, Quincy, and Winthrop

Passes

The price of your ferry pass depends on your route. 1-day and 7-day passes are valid from the date and time of purchase.

Monthly passes can be purchased at fare vending machines or on mTicket starting on the 15th of the month prior. Printed passes need to be ordered between the 15th and 22nd of the month prior to be shipped.

How to Pay Your Ferry Fare

First, choose how you'll pay your fare

We recommend buying a ticket or pass before you board. A crew member will check your ticket once you’re on board.

You can also use your EBT card to load value or passes onto a CharlieTicket at fare vending machines, the CharlieCard Store, or MBTA retail sales locations that accept EBT cards.

One-way, round trip, reduced fare, and monthly ferry passes for all routes are available on the mTicket App.

Credit and debit cards are accepted.

You can buy one-way tickets for all ferry routes from ticket booths at:

  • Long Wharf
  • Rowes Wharf
  • Charlestown Navy Yard
  • Hingham Shipyard

Cash and credit/debit cards are accepted.

Some ferry passes are available at fare vending machines, located at all subway stations and the Lynn and Worcester/UnionCommuter Rail stations:

  • 1-day, 7-day, and monthly LinkPasses
  • Monthly Hingham/Hull Ferry passes

Most machines accept cash, major credit/debit cards, and EBT cards. Some machines only accept credit/debit/EBT cards and are marked to indicate that they don’t accept cash.

One-way tickets are available only at ferry ticket booths.

You can order monthly ferry passes for the Hingham/Hull Commuter Ferry online. Passes will be mailed to you.

When you're ready to board the ferry

A crew member will verify your fare while you’re onboard the ferry.

  1. Open the mTicket App.
  2. Activate the ticket you would like to use.
  3. Show it to a crew member for verification.

Tickets are valid for three hours after activation. Please note, once a ticket is activated, it cannot be deactivated.
