Our District Every school district thinks its schools are great; at least they should. But what makes a school, and a school district, truly great? At the West Bend Joint School District #1, we believe it’s establishing within all families the knowledge that their child—throughout their years within this school district—will experience a learning environment that supports the development of the whole child.
We strive to provide opportunities for all students to explore their interests and talents through a wide variety of academic programs, visual and performingarts, athletics, and co-curricular clubs. For the West Bend Joint School District #1, making our schools great ismore than a mission or a vision—rather, it is an ironclad commitment.

Our Schools

Community-based 4K: YMCA-West Washington, Montessori Children's House, YMCA atTrinity Lutheran Church, YMCA at Holy Trinity Church, Living Word Child Development Center, Jackson Community Center.

Decorah Elementary (Eagles), Fair Park Elementary (Falcons), Green Tree Elementary (Gators), Jackson Elementary (Jaguars), McLane Elementary(McTigers) All schools are for children in grades K-4.
Silverbrook Intermediate School(Vikings) All students in grades 5 and 6 attend this school.
Badger Middle School(Badgers) Part of Braveland Conference in athletics. All students in grades 7 and 8 attend this school.
East High School(Suns) Part of North Shore Conference in athletics. Grades9-12.
West High School(Spartans) Part of North Shore Conference in athletics. Grades9-12

Our Community

The West Bend School District serves the city of West Bend, villages of Jackson and Newburg, and townships of Barton, Polk, Trenton, Jackson, West Bend and Addison. It is currently the 24thlargest school district—of 421—in the state of Wisconsin, with an annual budget of approximately $70 million. The district’s nearly 1,000 employees put students first.

TheCity of West Bendis the Washington County seat and home to more than 30,000 residents. While offering the advantages of small-town living, West Bend is only a 40-minute drive from Milwaukee and close to Madison and the state’s Fox Valley as well.
TheVillage of Jacksonis located just 25 miles northwest of Milwaukee and seven miles south of West Bend at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 45 and State Hwy 60. It is considered one of the fastest growing communities in Washington County, with a population of 7,200.
TheVillage of Newburgis considered "A Bird City" and has a population of 1,200. It is located on Hwy. 33 east of West Bend.

Our Performance

As part of the State of Wisconsin accountability system, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) produces Accountability Report Cards for all school districts and individual schools in the state each year. The report cards include data on multiple indicators.The accountability ratings are generated by taking historical data and demographic information related to Priority Weight Areas. Because the enrollment of students in each school is unique, the state places different weights on the Priority Weight Areas when calculating each individual school's rating. Therefore, every school district and every individual school has certain factors taken into account for their rating. Additionally, weights are determined by calculating three years of data into the equation.
